In contrast to regular Working Group Meetings, this conference focuses on the exchange of international experiences with HL7 Version 3. The conference will provide Tutorials, Case Studies, Research Papers, Papers and Workshops. The suggested topics for the Conference are:

  • Projects, small ones or large scale, implementing HL7 Version 3 messages or documents - what lessons have been learned?
    • V3 (Early and Later) Adopters: local, national and international perspectives
  • Strategies, local or national - why plans and policies are important?
    • Approach to national health information systems: convergence and divergence among countries
  • Dealing with implementation guidelines, test tools, contraints and profiles - what are the pitfalls and the benefits?
  • Electronic Healthcare Record: local, national and international perspectives
  • Beyond messages and documents - what else needs to be addressed?
    • Templates and Archetypes
    • Logical and physical security for the EHR
  • Future - what will happen, what should happen and what if?
  • Vocabulary: importance of using standardized healthcare terminologies
  • V2 Migration to V3
  • Education - what kind of tutorials could be offered at IHIC?
